Employment Opportunities
Public Health Analyst
The CDC Foundation is seeking a full-time Public Health Analyst to assist with planning and implementation of the Strengthening Surveillance and Response in Central Africa (SURVAC) project. The Public Health Analyst will report to the Director of SURVAC and will represent the Foundation to CDC; project partners including staff at WHO Geneva, WHO Lyon, AFRO, other public health experts; and public health officials from the Central African region. While the position is based at the CDC Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia, project implementation is in Cameroon, Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of the Congo, all francophone countries in Central Africa. As a result, the Public Health Analyst will interact with international public health experts, building positive collegial relationships through a combination of professionalism, reliability and responsiveness.
The Public Health Analyst must have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as solid budget capabilities. In addition, the Public Health Analyst must be able to adhere to deadlines, handle a myriad of details, anticipate and resolve complex problems, and demonstrate consistently sound judgment. Although he or she works independently, the Public Health Analyst must be willing and able to function as a member of a team. Some tasks will include maintaining a SURVAC SharePoint; monitoring reporting of project progress and sending updates to project partners; translation of scientific, public health documents; and maintaining budget spreadsheets.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree in public health or a related field or experience in the field of public health is preferred. Candidates must be able to travel internationally several times a year. Required computer skills include word processing, spreadsheet and database management, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Fluency in comprehension of written and spoken French is a requirement. Applicants without this ability will not be considered.
Annual salary range for this position is $45,000—$55,000. This position is based out of the CDC Foundation in Atlanta and any extension is based on future grant funding and performance.
