CDC Foundation Supports 53 Community-Based Organizations to Implement and Expand HIV Self-Testing Programs

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in eight people living with HIV in the United States is undiagnosed, and more than one third of all new HIV infections are transmitted by people who do not know that they have HIV. Community-based organizations will help increase access to HIV self-testing in underserved communities and among those most vulnerable to HIV.




CDC Foundation Launches National Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Campaign Created for the Black Community

Today, the CDC Foundation launches a new campaign, “Live to the Beat,” to help address cardiovascular disease in Black adults in the United States, who die from heart disease at a rate two times higher than their White counterparts and whose risk of death from stroke is even greater. “Live to the Beat” launches during American Heart Month and Black History Month.

Release of National Academies Consensus Study Report on Protecting Workers and the Public from Inhalation Hazards

Today, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine published a Consensus Study Report, Frameworks for Protecting Workers and the Public from Inhalation Hazards, to provide recommendations for the oversight and guidance of respiratory protection in the United States. The CDC Foundation joined this effort with federal partners including the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Department of State to commission this report in response to the evolving need for available and appropriate respiratory protection for workers not already within a workplace respiratory protection program, as well as for the public who could be exposed to inhalation hazards such as viruses, wildfire smoke, and mold as a part of daily life.
