Facebook’s $10 Million Match Helps CDC Foundation Fight Coronavirus

Facebook is joining with us to combat coronavirus. If you give to the CDC Foundation’s Facebook Fundraiser, Facebook will double your donation—up to $10 million. This generous matching donation will encourage us all to join in the response.

During a pandemic like the COVID-19 outbreak, federal funds may not be available or available rapidly enough to meet the fast-evolving needs of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health agencies. That’s where the CDC Foundation comes in—and that’s where you can come in, too.

Donations made to the CDC Foundation’s COVID-19 response support deploying emergency staffing to U.S. public health agencies, funding medical supplies, increasing lab capacity, providing support to vulnerable communities, and much more. And thanks to Facebook’s generous support, your donation will go even further.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, shared more about the need and our work to the Facebook community:

“In addition to our other donations, we’re committing $10 million to the CDC Foundation's Combat Coronavirus Fundraiser, which just launched today,” stated Zuckerberg in his own Facebook post today. “All funds will go to fighting the outbreak—including sourcing medical supplies and increasing lab capacity. Thanks to everyone on the front lines fighting this outbreak.”

In addition to our Facebook’s partnership, we are also working with the creative studio, VidMob, whose team is donating their time and expertise by developing dynamic creative for our Facebook digital assets. They are also providing their digital tools to us, so that we can get smarter insights, helping us reach even more people.

Thanks to everyone who is coming together to increase our reach. We also need your help—your support is urgently needed to address this rapidly evolving pandemic. Contributions to the CDC Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund, where Facebook is currently matching donations, can be made on Facebook: www.facebook.com/cdcfoundation.

Make a donation and share on Facebook and Instagram to encourage others to join in. Because every dollar counts in emergency responses like the coronavirus pandemic, Facebook is ensuring that 100 percent of all donations raised as part of this fundraiser will go directly to the CDC Foundation.

A heartfelt thanks to Facebook and the entire Facebook community for joining with us fill gaps and mobilize resources during this pandemic. And a special thanks to all of the amazing health heroes who are on the frontlines helping us combat this virus. #thankshealthheroes
