Leah Devlin Joins CDC Foundation Board of Directors
ATLANTA – Leah Devlin, D.D.S., M.P.H., has been elected to the board of directors of the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Foundation). Devlin is Professor of the Practice of health policy and management at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health.
Devlin has a long history of leadership in health issues in the state of North Carolina. She was State Health Director from 2001 to 2009 and previously was deputy state health director and health director for Wake County. She has served as president of three active state organizations – the North Carolina Association of Local Health Directors, North Carolina Public Health Association and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO).
“Leah's significant professional experience in public health makes her a valuable addition to the CDC Foundation,” said Gary Cohen, chair of the CDC Foundation board of directors. “Her perspective on health challenges at the state level and her experience building public-private partnerships to address those challenges will help inform the CDC Foundation's partnership-building work. We look forward to her active involvement on the CDC Foundation board.”
Devlin received her dental degree and master's degree in public health administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the School of Public Health's honor society. In 2008, she received the University’s Distinguished Alumna Award.
