Your Support Helps Improve Maternal-Infant Health
Maternal and infant deaths are higher in the United States than any other high-income country. Your support drives critical efforts to help turn this around, including Perinatal Quality Collaboratives (PQCs).
PQCs are networks of multidisciplinary teams made up of clinicians, providers, public health leaders, patients, families and others who work together on plans to improve health outcomes for pregnant women and infants in the United States. There is currently a PQC in every state, as well as Washington, DC.
Your Generosity Protects the Children of the World
Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea among infants and young children worldwide. Rotavirus infections in high-income and low- and middle-income countries is similar, yet 80% of deaths occur in low-income countries. Though treatable with rehydration salts, the effects of rotavirus infection lead to as many as 500,000 child deaths each year.
Low- and middle-income countries, where access to health care is limited and awareness about the virus is low, are hit especially hard. In response to this disparity, studies have been undertaken in Nigeria and Indonesia with a focus on the safety and effectiveness of newer rotavirus vaccines.
